Rabun County, Georgia

Rabun County is the north-easternmost county in Georgia. The population was 16,883 in 2020, up from 16,276 in 2010. The county seat is Clayton. With an average annual rainfall of over 70 inches, Rabun County has the title of the rainiest county in Georgia and is one of the rainiest counties east of the Cascades. It is also one of the most beautiful counties in Georgia. Other cities in Rabun County include Tiger, Dillard, Mountain City, and Sky Valley.

Rabun County Lakes

Rabun County is home of some of the most beautiful lakes in the country. These lakes include Lake Burton, Lake Rabun, Seed Lake, and Tallulah Falls Lake.

Lake Burton

Lake Burton is a 2,775 acre lake with 62 miles of shoreline located in the northeastern corner of Georgia in Rabun County. Lake Burton is owned and operated by the Georgia Power/Southern Company but is a public lake.

Lake Burton is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and is noted for the remarkable clarity of its water. Lake Rabun is a stocked lake and is a great lake to spend time fishing for bass, bream, perch, catfish, and trout. The trout fishing is excellent on lake Burton. And so beautiful.

Lake Rabun

Lake Rabun is an 835 acre lake with 25 miles of shoreline located in the Northeastern corner of Georgia in Rabun County. Lake Rabun was built in a deep valley located along a 10-mile section of the Tallulah River.

Due to the large growth of Atlanta in recent years, Lake Rabun has become a second home to some of the most wealthy individuals in Georgia. Lake Rabun has experienced a housing boom in recent years, with most homeowners being summer weekend residents.
